Khachkar -The Armenian cross-stone
Khachkar is a stone stele carved with a cross.In armenian խաչքար, literally "cross-stone".
The roads were erected stone stelae - "vishaps",in the prehistoric period, in the mountains, at the river sources and at the borders of the settlements.
It is a view of the Armenian architectural monuments and kind of layout of land inhabited by man. Stones were covered with cuneiform writings,carved images of skins,birds and heads of sheep.
The archetype of the first Christian cross stones, were these monuments,which appeared immediately after the accepting of Christianity.
The art of cross-stone swith the words "Symbolism and crafts manship khachkars Armenian stone crosses" was incorporated in the UNESCO, in november 2010.
